Summary: VitaSpan is designed to work without an account or Choral Software backend. App preferences and user-created records are stored on the device. Limited information leaves the device only when you use operating-system speech services, search public Medicare provider data, open an external service, share content, receive notifications, or make or restore a purchase.
Information stored on your device
VitaSpan may locally store saved providers, caregiver profile details you choose to enter, visit-checklist progress, guided-care answers, reminder and provider-change-alert history, accessibility and language preferences, and purchase-entitlement status. Choral Software does not operate a VitaSpan account system or server that receives this local data. Local data generally remains until you delete it, clear app storage, or uninstall the app, subject to device backup behavior.
Provider searches and public data
Provider information is retrieved directly from the public Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Provider Data Catalog at data.cms.gov. Search terms and filters are sent from your device to CMS to return results. Choral Software does not proxy or log those searches. CMS and network providers may receive your IP address, request details, and device or browser information under their own policies.
Voice, speech, and accessibility features
When you choose voice search, VitaSpan passes the audio to the speech-recognition service provided or selected by your device’s operating system. Depending on the device, selected service, language, and settings, recognition may happen on the device or the service may send audio over the internet to its provider for processing. VitaSpan does not operate that service and Choral Software does not receive or retain the audio. The speech provider’s handling of audio is governed by its own privacy policy and settings.
Read-aloud is separate from microphone-based voice search. It uses your device’s text-to-speech service: VitaSpan supplies the text you ask it to read, and the operating system or selected speech provider handles speech synthesis under its own behavior and settings.
Notifications
VitaSpan may request notification permission for appointment reminders and saved-provider change alerts that you enable. Reminder details and notification history are stored locally. The operating system processes notification delivery, and scheduled provider-change checks may contact CMS.
Purchases
VitaSpan offers an optional one-time Premium unlock. Apple App Store or Google Play processes billing, payment information, receipts, and purchase restoration. VitaSpan receives purchase status needed to unlock features and stores entitlement status locally; Choral Software does not receive payment-card details.
Sharing, calls, maps, and external apps
When you choose Share, VitaSpan passes the selected content to your device’s share sheet and the destination app you select. Tapping a provider phone number opens the device dialer. Requesting directions opens Google Maps or another available maps service and sends the provider address or coordinates to that service. Those third parties handle information under their own privacy policies. VitaSpan does not record calls or request your device location.
Third-party services
Advertising and analytics
Based on the current app implementation, VitaSpan does not include an advertising SDK, developer analytics SDK, or crash-reporting SDK. Choral Software does not sell personal information collected through VitaSpan. Platform stores and external services may independently process diagnostics, purchase, or usage information under their own terms.
Your choices and deletion
You may decline microphone, speech-recognition, or notification permission; avoid optional searches and external links; delete saved content in the app where available; clear app storage; or uninstall VitaSpan. Delete exported or shared copies separately from their destination. Because VitaSpan has no Choral Software account or backend, there is no server-side VitaSpan profile to delete. Children
VitaSpan is intended for adults seeking Medicare-related care information and is not directed to children under 13. Choral Software does not knowingly collect personal information from children through VitaSpan.
Security and international processing
Local information is protected by the safeguards of your device and operating system. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. External providers may process information in other countries under their own safeguards and retention practices.
Changes
We may update this policy as VitaSpan, applicable law, or third-party services change. We will revise the effective date and may provide an additional notice for material changes.
