Choral Software (“Choral Software,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides the Portrait Magician mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App’s free and Premium features.
Summary
Portrait Magician is designed to keep your artwork and project content on your device. You do not need to create a Choral Software account. We do not operate a server that receives your drawings, imported reference photos, or saved projects. The free version uses Google Mobile Ads, which may process information as described below. Premium is a one-time purchase processed by Apple and removes advertising.
Information stored locally by the App
The App may store the following information on your device:
- PencilKit drawings and saved Premium projects;
- the selected portrait reference and reference-control settings used during the current session;
- your Premium entitlement status; and
- app preferences, including whether advertisements should be displayed.
This information remains on your device unless you choose to share it. Saved projects remain until you delete them in the App or remove the App, subject to your device backup settings.
Drawing and reference features
The free version includes a PencilKit canvas, portrait references, standard sharing, and advertising. Premium adds the full portrait library, personal-photo reference import, reference transforms, drawing grids, facial-proportion guides, brush presets, saved projects, high-resolution export, and ad removal.
If you import a personal photo, Apple’s system photo picker provides only the image you select. The App uses that image locally as a drawing reference. Choral Software does not upload the selected image to its servers.
When you use the system share sheet, iOS provides your exported drawing to the app or service you select. The recipient’s privacy policy and terms govern its handling after you choose to share.
Advertising and consent
The free version uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Google and its advertising partners may process information such as:
- device and advertising identifiers;
- IP address and approximate location derived from it;
- advertisement impressions, clicks, and other interactions;
- device, app, and browser information; and
- diagnostics, crash, and performance information.
Depending on your region and choices, advertisements may be personalized or non-personalized. The App uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to request applicable consent before requesting advertisements. Where required by iOS, the App also requests permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. Declining tracking does not prevent you from using the App.
You can revisit available advertising privacy choices from the Privacy screen in the App. Google describes its data practices in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
Premium removes Google advertisements from the App after a successful purchase or restoration. Google may retain previously processed information according to its own retention policies.
Purchases
The Premium product is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase processed by Apple. Apple handles payment information, purchase authorization, and transaction records. Choral Software does not receive your full payment-card details. The App receives transaction status and product information needed to unlock or restore Premium and stores the entitlement locally.
Information Choral Software does not request directly
The App does not require a Choral Software account and does not directly request your name, email address, postal address, contacts, precise location, health information, or financial-account credentials. Choral Software does not sell your drawings or imported reference photos.
Your choices and controls
You can:
- draw without importing a personal photo;
- choose whether to share or export a drawing;
- delete individual saved Premium projects;
- clear drawings from the canvas;
- decline Apple’s tracking request;
- use consent and privacy controls presented in the App where available;
- purchase Premium to remove advertising; and
- delete the App to remove locally stored App data, subject to device or cloud backups controlled by you.
You may also manage device permissions in iOS Settings and advertising choices through your device and Google settings.
Children
Portrait Magician is intended for a general audience. Choral Software does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through the App. If you believe a child has provided personal information in connection with the App, contact us so we can review the concern.
Data security and international processing
We use reasonable measures appropriate to the App’s design to protect information under our control. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Third-party providers such as Google and Apple may process information in countries other than the one where you live, subject to their policies and applicable safeguards.
Legal rights
Depending on where you live, privacy law may provide rights concerning personal information. Because Choral Software does not maintain user accounts or receive your locally stored artwork, we may not possess data that can be identified with you. Requests involving information processed by Google or Apple may need to be directed to those providers. You may contact us with questions or requests at the address below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, third-party services, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the App or its store listing where appropriate.
