This Privacy Policy explains how Choral Software (“Choral Software,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in the Numeroot mobile application. Numeroot is available or being prepared for Android, iPhone, and iPad. Features and third-party services differ by platform, as described below.
Summary
Numeroot is designed to work without an account. Choral Software does not operate a Numeroot account system and does not receive your notes, practice answers, learning history, or AI conversations through its own servers.
Core learning information is stored locally on your device. Android users may optionally download AI model files directly from Hugging Face for private, on-device tutoring and speech transcription. The iPhone and iPad edition may use Google Mobile Ads in the free version and Apple services for purchases and optional features.
Information stored on your device
Depending on platform and the features you use, Numeroot may store:
- notes and note content;
- flashcards and review schedules;
- practice answers, results, dates, and progress;
- selected chapter, goals, reminders, streaks, bookmarks, and reading position;
- downloaded on-device AI model files;
- purchase entitlement status on Apple platforms; and
- app settings, preferences, and consent choices.
This information remains in Numeroot’s app storage unless you choose an export or sharing action. You can remove local information using available in-app controls, by clearing the app’s data, or by uninstalling Numeroot. Copies you export must be deleted separately from their destination.
Android on-device AI and model downloads
The Android edition offers optional on-device tutoring using a Qwen model with MediaPipe LLM Inference and optional English speech transcription using a Whisper model with TensorFlow Lite. Prompts, responses, and recorded speech are processed locally on the device after the required models are downloaded. Choral Software does not receive that content.
The model files are downloaded directly from Hugging Face when you choose “Download model.” As part of an ordinary internet download, Hugging Face and its infrastructure providers may receive technical information such as your IP address, request time, app user-agent string, and standard network or server-log information. Downloads can be large, may resume after interruption, and are checked by Numeroot against expected file sizes and cryptographic SHA-256 hashes. The downloaded Qwen and Whisper models remain in Numeroot’s app-specific storage until you remove the app data or uninstall the app. Model availability and performance depend on device hardware, available storage, operating-system support, and the applicable third-party model licenses.
Microphone and speech transcription on Android
Numeroot requests microphone permission only when you choose voice input in the tutor. While recording, audio samples are held for the transcription operation and processed locally by the downloaded Whisper model. Numeroot does not send the recording or transcript to Choral Software or a cloud speech-recognition service. You may deny or later revoke microphone permission and continue using text input.
Android network access
The Android edition uses internet access to download optional AI model files from Hugging Face. Based on the current Android release reviewed for this policy, it does not include advertising, in-app purchases, an account system, cloud AI, or a Choral Software analytics SDK. If those practices change, this policy and applicable store disclosures will be updated before release.
iPhone and iPad on-device AI
On supported Apple devices, Numeroot can use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models framework for chapter-scoped tutoring and study materials. Prompts and responses are processed on the device and are not sent to Choral Software. Apple’s operating-system terms and privacy practices may apply. On unsupported devices, Numeroot provides clearly labeled offline guidance instead of transmitting questions to a cloud AI service.
Photos, handwriting, and text recognition on Apple devices
If you choose the Premium camera or handwriting feature, Apple’s system photo picker lets you select an image. Numeroot processes the selected image on-device with Apple Vision to recognize text. Choral Software does not receive the image or recognized text. Photo selection and permissions remain under Apple’s system controls.
Advertising and consent on Apple devices
The free iPhone and iPad edition may use the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google User Messaging Platform. Depending on region, device settings, and consent choices, Google and its advertising partners may process device and advertising identifiers, IP-derived approximate location, ad interactions, diagnostics, consent choices, and device or app information.
Numeroot requests applicable consent information before requesting ads and provides privacy options when Google indicates they are required. Premium removes in-app advertising. Learn more in Google’s Privacy Policy and Apple’s App Store privacy information.
Purchases on Apple devices
Numeroot Premium is processed by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. Choral Software does not receive your full payment-card details. Apple supplies purchase and entitlement information needed to unlock Premium, restore purchases, and handle refunds or revocations. Apple’s privacy policy governs its processing.
Notifications, sharing, and exports
If a platform edition offers study reminders and you enable one, Numeroot requests notification permission and schedules the reminder locally. Choral Software does not receive your reminder schedule.
Numeroot shares information only after you choose an export or sharing action, such as exporting a study document or progress summary. The destination you select may have its own privacy practices. Choral Software does not control copies stored with or sent through third-party services.
Textbook content and external links
Some editions of Numeroot include or link to openly licensed educational material. Links you choose to open are handled by your browser or the relevant external service and are subject to that service’s privacy policy.
Children and students
Numeroot is an educational app, but Choral Software does not knowingly operate an account system or intentionally collect learning records from children through Choral Software servers. Parents, guardians, and schools should review device-level microphone, advertising, purchase, sharing, backup, and notification controls before use. If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to Choral Software through a support request, contact us so we can address it.
Device backup and retention
Local information remains on the device until it is reset, removed, or the app is deleted. Depending on platform settings and the release configuration, operating-system backup or device-transfer services may copy some app information under the platform provider’s privacy terms. Downloaded model files may need to be downloaded again after reinstalling or moving devices. No security measure can guarantee absolute protection.
Your choices
- Use Numeroot without creating an account.
- Use text input without granting microphone access.
- Choose whether to download optional Android AI models.
- Decline optional photo or notification access on supported editions.
- Manage applicable advertising consent and Apple purchases.
- Export information only when you choose.
- Clear app data or delete Numeroot to remove local information.
Website and support communications
If you visit choralsoft.com or contact support, the website, hosting provider, security tools, and contact-form provider may process standard server logs and information you voluntarily submit. We use that information to operate and secure the site and respond to your request. Do not include sensitive student records, financial information, model prompts, or audio recordings in support messages.
International processing and legal requirements
Third-party providers such as Apple, Google, and Hugging Face may process information in countries other than your own. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business reorganization, subject to applicable law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Numeroot’s features, providers, platforms, or legal obligations change. The effective date will be revised, and material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page as appropriate.
